" The Toll-Free 800 number business is awash with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then there's Bill Quimby's 1-800-MARKETER (tollfreenumbers.com) which is - GREAT! We've used 800 numbers in our businesses for many years, and I can tell you all the ugly problems that exist in typically getting your own 800 number: delays in providing service, over-charging, forcing un-needed services on the buyer, demanding annual contract, requiring credit searches, lousy (or non-existent or foreign-based sales & support). And sometimes a provider says that they really own the number and you can "rent" it from them. Yuck. Not so with TollFreeNumbers.com! 1) You search for your desired number (and they have the BEST search engine in the business with oodles of choices and suggestions). 2) You fill in the form and pay with a credit card. 3) They send you a confirmation email, and 4) Poof! Your number is working the next day. Actually, that part is not true. They turned on my second 800 number in 2 hours! Then upon my request, they re-pointed the number (at no charge) to another land-line within 30 minutes. And when I called them, they answered the phone instantly - and didn't try to "up-sell" me anything. That alone is great. It's nice to talk to a small family-owned business as a real person. When they activate your 800 number, they include a month of free service (& 100 minutes) for immediately-working access time - to give you the time to transfer the number over to your long distance carrier. Oh, and in their confirming email they offered a referral deal with their own preferred carrier which throws in another 100 free minutes. Nice. They're not a long distance carrier themselves, so their only "product" is your 800 number. I like the idea of keeping the "Resporg" 800 number ordering process separate from the telephone company bureaucracy! Bill Quimby and his staff at TollFreeNumber.com is knowledgeable, smart, funny - and efficient. How many websites do you know of that do white board animations to explain everything - with humor - up front? Not like the salesbots at the typical telephone company... Finally, in case you're wondering, I'm not being paid for this feedback, I'm not one of Bill's relatives, and I rarely write these kinds of emails - only when the service I get is really top notch. And I'm a happy customer. So, bottom line: shop around if you like, but you won't find a better no-hassle service than TollFreeNumbers.com, in my humble opinion.
